Departmental & U of U Scholarships

Award notifications for these awards are sent by the sponsoring department. These scholarships are not coordinated by Learning Abroad. Learning Abroad provides application materials. The sponsoring department collects application materials and determines the criteria, award amounts, recipients, deadlines, application process, notification methods, and fund distribution procedures. Contact the sponsoring department for more information. Students are responsible for understanding the scholarship terms and completing the application appropriately. Terms and conditions can change at any time.

Departmental scholarships may not be offered every year. Information will be updated when available.

These scholarships are available for students who are participating in a University of Utah intensive language program. This scholarship is only available for summer programs. 
Scholarship Application

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Matriculated student at the U of U
  • Applying for a summer intensive language program led by a faculty member in the Department of World Languages and Cultures
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA

Deadline: April 1, 2017, 5:00 PM MST

All scholarship materials must be submitted to the Department of World Languages and Cultures in LNCO 1400 by the deadline above. 

International Studies 

The International Studies Program will award up to 5 scholarships for International Studies majors participating in a University of Utah Faculty-Led Summer Program. Fill out the scholarship application and turn it in to CTIHB 210 by March 24, 2017.

 

Middle East Studies

The Middle East Studies Center will award up to 3 scholarships for Middle East Studies majors participating in a study abroad program or global internship in the Middle East during Summer 2017. Fill out the  scholarship application and turn it in to CTIHB 210 by March 24, 2017.

 

Global Public Health Scholarships

The Division of Public Health is pleased to announce the following Global Public Health Learning Abroad Scholarship opportunities for Summer 2017 Global Public Health programs:

Global Public Health in Ghana

Global Public Health in Ghana and Paris

Global Public Health in India
 
*The Global Public Health Learning Abroad Scholarship: 1 award available in the amount of $1,000 

A general scholarship to help defray educational costs for qualified undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in a learning abroad program through the Division of Public Health. 

  • Scholarship Qualifications: This scholarship is specifically designated to support a student in good standing enrolled in a learning abroad program through the Division of Public Health.
  • Scholarship application

Application Deadline:  February 17, 2017 by 3:00 pm

Scholarships will be announced and awarded in mid March.
 
*The Global Public Health Innovation Competition:  1 award in the amount of $1,500 (for returning students)

An endowment fund established to award an undergraduate or graduate student who has completed a learning abroad program and desires to return to the same region to implement an innovative idea in collaboration with a faculty mentor for improving health.  The prize shall be used to help cover expenses incurred by each student while traveling and executing his or her idea.

  • Scholarship Qualifications:  This scholarship is specifically designated to support a student who is in good standing at the University of Utah.  Students must be enrolled in a learning abroad program through the Division of Public Health to be eligible for award.
  • Scholarship application

Application Deadline:  February 17, 2017 by 3:00 pm

Scholarships will be announced and awarded in mid March.

These scholarships are only available for students who are participating in a University of Utah summer program. This is for 1 award in the amount of $500.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Matriculated student at the U of U
  • Applying for a summer 2017 program abroad
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • You must be an undergraduate student majoring in the College of Fine Arts

Deadline: March 6, 2017

Scholarship Application

All scholarship materials must be submitted to the College of Fine Arts Dean's Office in ART, Room 250 by the deadline.

 These scholarships can be applied to Learning Abroad for exchange programs only. They can also be used to study at the University of Utah. For more details, check out the website
