Summer 2019 Programs

Learning Abroad is a transformational experience. Research shows that University of Utah students who learn abroad graduate faster, have higher GPAs, and are more engaged on campus and in the community. UAC Learning Abroad Handbook

The Learning Abroad Handbook is an essential resource for any student participating in a Program.  It provides information about travel, academics, passports, visas, finances, and much more!

Full information and policies for University of Utah (U of U) Learning Abroad Programs are available in the UAC Learning Abroad Handbook. It is your responsibility to read this information in its entirety and understand the policies and procedures associated with your program. By submitting an application, you agree to all of the terms outlined in the UAC Learning Abroad Handbook. If you are participating in a program associated with a host institution, provider organization, or affiliate, you will be expected to adhere to the disciplinary, dismissal, financial, and academic policies of your host(s) in addition to following U of U policies and procedures.

Application Information


Detailed application instructions are found in the UAC Learning Abroad Pre-decision Application PacketAdditional details are available in the UAC Learning Abroad Handbook.  All applicants are required to attend a Learning Abroad 101 session before submitting an application.  Applications are not considered for admission until the pre-decision application packet, personal statement, and initial payment are completed and submitted.  Late applications are subject to a $100 penalty and are considered on a case-by-case basis.  Once you have submitted the application materials and the deadline has passed, applications are reviewed by Faculty Directors and Learning Abroad. Students will be notified by Learning Abroad through Umail of their application status.

Take the following steps to start your application:

  1. Select a Program.
  2. Attend Learning Abroad 101 online this fall.
  3. Write a personal statement.
  4. Complete and email the Pre-decision Application Packet (including your personal statement) to and by FEBRUARY 8TH.
  5. Make the initial payment BY FEBRUARY 8TH.

Applications are not considered for admission until all pre-decision application steps are completed.  Late applications are considered on a case-by-case basis and are subject to a non-refundable $100 late fee.  More information about the full application process and making the initial payment can be found in the UAC Learning Abroad Handbook.
