International Student Health Insurance
The University of Utah wants to ensure that international students are fully covered by adequate health insurance while in the U.S. All international students on F and J visas will automatically be enrolled in the University of Utah Student Health Insurance Plan administered by United Healthcare. International Students should be aware that most travel health insurance policies from your home country or elsewhere will not meet the requirements to waive health insurance coverage at the University of Utah.
The cost for University of Utah Student Health insurance will be included as a separate item in your tuition bill. You MUST PAY for this insurance by the tuition due date or a registration hold will prevent you from registering for future semesters.
For more information on the policy cost and plan, please visit the Student Health Center website and click on the "International Students" tab at the top of the page: http://studenthealth.utah.edu/.
Full policy information can be found at: www.uhcsr.com/utah. Note that rates and policy information are subject to change.
All new students are required to submit proof of immunity for Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR). You will need to provide the Student Health Center with the dates of when you received (2) MMR vaccines or the dates of when you received (2) Measles, (2) Mumps and (1) Rubella Vaccine.
Receive the MMR vaccination at the Student Health Center Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00pm.
For further information, visit the Student Health Center's website.
International students will be screened for tuberculosis (TB) if your home country has a high rate of tuberculosis. The test is given at the Student Health Center; the cost is $10.00 (TB skin test). Depending upon the results of this test, you may need additional testing. The costs of these additional tests are typically covered by the student insurance plan provided by the University.
